5 Easy Steps to Formatting your E-book

The title says it all!

Not a week goes by that I don't hear from someone who wants my help in formatting their e-book. I've posted about it several times in my FAQ on Publishing series and have free articles available on www.NoRulesJustWRITE.com, but folks keep asking for something "easier."

So here you are, a free, quick, and EASY resource! Enjoy!

This short video teaches you all the basics you need. Have a more complicated project or want to do more than this basic formatting? Check out Smashwords free guide HERE.

  1. Very informative, CJ. I noticed that some words were underlined in black (indicates italics?) and some in red (spelling/grammar check?). Will those marks appear in an uploaded e-book, or do they 'disappear' when uploaded?

  2. Hey there! The words underlined in black will stay that way--this manuscript was an old short story and my editor at Berkley liked underlining instead of italics in early drafts.

The words marked by Word as misspelled with the red underlining will NOT show that underlining in the final version.

Remember, that you always want to proof any ebook in the final format as gremlins can be introduced during the upload and conversion.

    Hope that helps,
    CJ
